The Town of Uxbridge’s application for the Public Library Construction Program was APPROVED! Uxbridge will begin the Planning and Design phase on the same timeline as other approved communities — this phase runs through December 2025. The library is WAITLISTED for construction funding and will be recommended for a construction grant as funding becomes available.

9/4/2025: The Library Building Committee selected Schwartz/Silver as the Designer for the Library’s Planning and Design work.

7/30/25: The Town of Uxbridge posted the RFQ for Architectural Design Services at the Uxbridge Free Public Library.

7/10/25: The Library Building Committee selected LeftField as the Owner’s Project Manager (OPM) for the Library. An OPM acts solely on behalf of the Town to oversee all phases of a construction project, from planning and design through construction and closeout. They provide expert, impartial guidance to keep projects on schedule, on budget, and aligned with the Town’s best interests.

6/12/25: The Town of Uxbridge posted the RFQ for OPM Services at the Uxbridge Free Public Library.

4/2/25: The Uxbridge Select Board appointed seven members to the Library Building Committee: Shawn Bernard, Dominick Tammaro, James Underhill, Phillip Wheelock, Trustees Allison Lurie and Cristina Silva, and Library Director Chris Powloka.

3/24/25: The Uxbridge Select Board voted to establish a seven-member Library Building Committee. Click here for additional information

1/9/25: The Massachusetts Board of Library Commissioners APPROVED the Town of Uxbridge’s application for the MPLCP and awarded $100,000 in Planning and Design grant funding to Uxbridge. Uxbridge is waitlisted for construction funding.

5/31/24: The Town of Uxbridge submitted its application for the 2023-2024 Grant Round of the Massachusetts Public Library Construction Program (MPLCP). 

5/14/24: Article 16 passed at the 2024 Spring Annual Town Meeting with 143 residents in favor of the article, 15 opposed. Thank you to all who supported and advocated for the article’s passage.

Based on the MBLC’s projected timeline for waitlisted projects, we are anticipating a Town Meeting vote to approve construction funding no later than Spring 2028.
